There is also a notion among general public that Calculus is very important and it gets glorified attention (2 or 3 must have calculus classes in undergraduate course work) but Linear Algebra gets a little less attention.  If you start to think about Linear Algebra and its clarity in formulating problems of applications to Mathematics, it becomes a very powerful tool to solve problems and gain some intuition about the problem itself.

I strongly encourage you to solve the assignments and this is where our understanding of the concepts become clear and the side effect of solving these assignments is that we gain some confidence in trying to see a new problem in Linear Algebra way.
